Short answer: a marketing agency in Egypt typically charges between $1,000 and $10,000 per month on retainer, excluding media spend. Small social-only retainers sit at the bottom of that range, full-service retainers with strategy, media buying and production sit in the middle, and integrated ATL and BTL programmes sit above it. At SkyFi, digital marketing retainers start at $2,500 a month and branding or development projects start at $3,500.
The four ways agencies in Egypt price work
Before comparing quotes, check which model each agency is using. Two proposals with the same headline number can mean very different things.
1. Monthly retainer
A fixed monthly fee for an agreed scope: content, campaign management, reporting. This is the most common model for ongoing work and the easiest to budget against. The risk is a vague scope, so insist on deliverable counts in writing.
2. Project fee
A one-off price for a defined output: a brand identity, a website, a launch campaign. Right for anything with a clear start and end.
3. Percentage of ad spend
The agency takes 10 to 20 per cent of your media budget. It looks fair until your budget doubles for a seasonal push and the fee doubles with it for the same amount of work. It also gives the agency a quiet incentive to recommend spending more.
4. Hourly or per-task
Rare for brands, common for freelancers. Hard to forecast and hard to hold to an outcome.
What the bands actually buy you
Roughly, in the Egyptian market:
- $500 to $1,500 a month — social media management only. Posting, basic design, replies. Usually one junior handling several accounts. Fine for a small local business, not enough for a brand with growth targets.
- $2,000 to $5,000 a month — full digital: strategy, content, paid media across platforms, monthly reporting on cost per result. This is where most serious brands sit.
- $5,000 to $10,000+ a month — the above plus in-house production, influencer programmes, and multi-market or bilingual campaigns.
- Priced per brief — ATL and BTL. Media rates, permits, locations and staffing dominate the budget, so a fixed retainer would be guesswork.
Media spend is separate in all of these. If an agency quotes one number that includes their fee and your ad budget together, ask for it split; you cannot judge either half otherwise.

What moves the number up or down
- Number of channels. One platform done well costs less than five done thinly, and usually performs better.
- Volume of creative. Paid social burns creative. A brand testing 20 assets a month costs more than one recycling four.
- Whether production is included. Shooting original photo and video is the single biggest swing factor.
- Languages. Arabic and English is not one campaign translated twice; it is two sets of creative and two sets of copy.
- Reporting depth. A dashboard and a monthly call costs less than attribution work across offline and online sales.
Red flags in a cheap quote
- No deliverable counts, only adjectives
- Ads run from the agency’s own Business Manager rather than yours, so you lose the pixel and the audiences when you leave
- Guaranteed rankings, guaranteed verification, or guaranteed follower numbers
- Reporting in impressions and reach with no cost per result
- No named account lead
Frequently asked questions
Is it cheaper to hire in-house?
Not usually, until you are spending enough to keep a full team busy. A marketer, a designer, a media buyer and a videographer on payroll in Cairo cost more per month than a mid-range retainer, plus equipment, software and the hiring risk. In-house wins when volume is high and constant.
Should I pay a percentage of ad spend?
Only if your budget is stable. Otherwise a fixed retainer protects you during seasonal spikes, which is why we use one.
How long before I can judge the results?
Paid campaigns give usable data in the first week and should be optimised from it. SEO and content compound over three to six months. Judge the first month on setup quality and reporting clarity, not on revenue.
Do agencies in Egypt charge in dollars or pounds?
Both. Agencies working with regional or export-focused clients often quote in dollars; local retainers are frequently in Egyptian pounds. Ask which currency the contract is in and whether it is revised with exchange-rate movement.
